instalment of a generous $250,000 donation promised to the Bermuda Health Alliance.

The cash comes just days after Tyco donated $100,000 to the Family Resource Network group of charities.

Health Alliance chairman Arthur Haycock yesterday said that the Alliance had received $50,000 for new equipment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's new operating theatres.

"We are extraordinarily grateful for their magnificent gift and outstanding commitment to healthcare in Bermuda,'' he said.

The previous operating rooms were at least 30-years-old and could not meet current standards or support the needs of the surgical practice.

The four current operating suites were not able to accommodate the needs of those in need of emergency or elective surgery.

With the generous donation from Tyco, KEMH will be able to install six new operating facilities, complete with the newest equipment and the latest technology. This pledge brings the grand total of donations to the Alliance to more than $5 million.

Tyco is a multi-national manufacturing and service company operating in more than 80 countries worldwide. Their projected fiscal earnings for 1999 will be in excess of $22 billion.

One of Tyco's four divisions produces disposable and specialty products for medical use.

Chairman L. Dennis Kozlowski said: "Tyco believes in the wellness of its employees and the citizens in the communities in which we operate. We're delighted to be able to help the Alliance achieve its Capital Campaign goal.'' The Alliance started a fundraising drive with this goal in mind more than three years ago in the interest of its member charities.
