Troy Anthony Bremar, 26, of Happy Valley Road, also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and driving with no insurance.

The theft of the Yamaha motorcycle occurred between December 2, 1994, and January 11 of this year, when Bremar was arrested.

Police Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said officers spotted Bremar riding towards North Shore Road on Blackwatch Pass.

Bremar turned onto North Shore without stopping, so officers signalled him to stop. But Bremar continued, turning left onto Overview Hill. The chase continued, with Bremar almost colliding with a wall, then turning onto Swansbay Hill and later Berkeley Road. Outside Northlands Secondary School, Bremar mounted the sidewalk, court was told. He turned up Mount Hill and attempted a U-Turn before losing control of the cycle and falling.

The cycle, worth $1,500, was returned to the owner with relatively little damage, Insp. Duffy said.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis asked for a social inquiry report before passing sentence.

Bremar, a junior mason at a construction company, was released on $500 bail.
