Environment Minister the Hon. Gerald Simons said Government aimed to protect all Bermuda's beauty spots.

Under the plan, Shelly Bay would be turned into a recreation area for families.

There would be children's play equipment to boost the site, said Mr. Simons.

One proposal was to link the beach with the playing field area, he added.

Mr. Simons stressed the field would continue to be managed by the Department of Youth and Sport.

He spoke as the House of Assembly considered the National Parks Areas Amendment Notice.

Shadow Environment Minister Mr. Julian Hall said credit should go to the Junior Service League for the proposals.
