Boulevard and Somerset to square off again

Somerset Trojans and Boulevard are set to do battle for the sixth time this season ? this time for the right to meet Devonshire Cougars in March's Friendship Trophy final.

Only five days ago these two teams played to a painstaking stalemate at BAA Field. But with a cup final berth now up for grabs, the stakes have been raised.

Therefore sparks should fly at the Den tonight as Blazers seek to advance to a first major cup final since qualifying for the 1996-97 FA Cup Final while Trojans attempt to bring their perennial cup semi-final jinx at Devonshire Rec to an end.

Trojans edged Blazers 2-1 last December to advance to the Premier's Dudley Eve Cup final which they eventually won convincingly against Cougars. And another Trojans' win tonight would set up a second successive final between the two clubs.

Boulevard, meanwhile, are gunning for what will be their second appearance in the Friendship final and first since they won the competition in 1984-85.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Blazers' skipper Shaki Crockwell ? one of 184 local footballers who have signed up for David Bascome's Island Soccer League (ISL) ? has recovered from an ankle injury.

But one player Boulevard will definitely be without is key defender Jahmarley Samuels who accumulated a third yellow card against Trojans over the weekend and will now have to sit out tonight's cup clash through suspension.

Trojans, however, will also be without key midfielder Stephen Astwood and forward Rodre Wilson. Astwood bore the full brunt of a Bermuda Football Association (BFA) clampdown on swearing ? though it appeared the national team player took the wrap for a team-mate in this case ? while Wilson will also sit out tonight's match through suspension after picking up a third booking in his team's previous excursion to the city.

Tonight's Friendship clash will be preceded by the First Division Shield semi-final involving Devonshire Colts and Ireland Rangers.

Southampton Rangers became the first team to advance to the March 25 Shield Final after beating Somerset Eagles 3-2 at BAA Field on Tuesday night in a replay.

Jahnai Bean (penalty), Maurico Iris and Kahlil Symonds were all on target for Rangers, while Eagles replied through Anthony Webb and Darrin Dowling.
