John Edward Minors of Euclid Avenue, admitted the offence which occurred on March 29 at 2.30 a.m.

Sgt. Cyril Plant prosecuting, said Police were watching a car at Midsea Lane, Pembroke when they noticed Minors walk up to it. Another car approached and Minors, who had a large Rottweiller dog on a leash, backed away returning soon after.

He walked up to the car put the dog inside and drove away. Police stopped the car near the BAA field, and he shouted that he had not done anything.

Since he appeared to be hiding something under his shirt, Police attempted to search him. At that point he set the dog on the officer and ran toward the clubhouse. He threw something in the bushes but nothing was found.

Minors was then arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.

ACCUSED BEAT MAN WITH A CHAIR LEG CTS The Senior Magistrate yesterday ordered a social inquiry report for a 24-year-old Pembroke man who smashed another man in the face with a chair leg requiring him to get three stitches.

Vaughn Eric Joseph, of Deepdale Road, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Gerald Bean and damaging a wooden chair on March 20.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Earl Kirby said Joseph visited his ex-girlfriend Lynea Wales' home on Spicewood Drive, Warwick, to visit his daughter for an hour.

At 8.10 p.m. Wales' new boyfriend Gerald Bean arrived. While he was in the kitchen talking to Wales, Joseph became hostile and smashed a chair valued at $85 against a wall. He then used a chair leg to smash Bean on the nose.

Joseph kept hitting Bean on the head, following him outside through the back door where he continued to hit him.

Bean sustained cuts to his face, right hand and side of his face in the attack as well as swelling and bruises.

Joseph's lawyer Mr. Nicholas Dill asked for a social inquiry report in view of the longstanding poor relations between his client, who has previous convictions for assault, unlawful entry, and damaging property.

"I think a social inquiry report will allow the court to look at the circumstances of this particular set of offences,'' he said.

Joseph was released on $500 bail and will appear in Magistrates' Court, on May 2 for sentence.
