Breaking news: Six face drugs and firearms charges

Six people – five men and one woman – appeared in court today charged with drug and firearms offences.

Three of the people appeared in Magistrates' Court in connection with the discovery of firearms and drugs at a house in Hamilton Parish on Friday, April 18, and three others appeared in connection with the discovery of drugs and ammunition at a Southampton home, also on Friday.

None of the accused were required to enter a plea as the charges must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Jason Wheatley, 25, of Pembroke, was charged with eight counts of drug and weapons possession, including possession of cannabis, drug equipment, two revolvers and ammunition.

Suzi Paula Raposo, 22, of Smiths, and Richardo Amaro, 27, of Hamilton Parish, were also charged with possession of drugs and drug equipment.

Wheatley was remanded in custody until another hearing on May 6, Raposo and Amaro were granted bail in the amount of $1 million plus one surety.

They were both ordered to surrender all travel documents and report to Hamilton Police station three days a week.

Justin DeSilva, 22, Christopher Carreiro, 26, and Justin Viera, 22, all Southampton residents, were charged with possession of cannabis.

Carreiro and Viera were charged with possession of cannabis intended for supply and cultivation.

DeSilva, Carreiro and Viera were also charged with possession of drug equipment and possession of ammunition for a 6.35 full metal jacket semi-automatic.

The three, whose matter is also adjourned to May 6, were granted bail in the amount of $10,000 plus one surety and were ordered to surrender all travel documents and to report to Hamilton Police station three times per week.
