and father-of-two $550 in fines this week.

Plumber Ivan Tuzo, of Parson's Road, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cocaine on February 27 in Pembroke.

The court heard that Police narcotics officers were searching a King's Gate Lane residence when Tuzo arrived on his motorcycle. An officer approached him and informed him that he would have to be searched also.

Tuzo made a break for it but was stopped by the Police officer. He then reached into his right pocket and took out something clenched in his fist.

The Police officer could not get him to open his fist and required help from his colleagues who managed to pry open Tuzo's grip.

In his right hand were two pieces of brown paper containing plastic twists filled with white powder and half a home-rolled cigarette.

Tuzo was arrested and later admitted that the items were his. The white powder in the two twists was found after analysis to be .94 grams of 82 percent pure cocaine and the homemade cigarette was found to contain .18 grams of cannabis.

Senior Magistrate William Francis fined Tuzo $450 and $100 for possession of the cocaine and cannabis respectively.
