Competition during the first day was considerably tighter in the gross division where former champions Bob and Tucker Crawford of North Carolina enjoyed a three-stroke lead over A.Edwards and L.Burch.

The tournament continues to be a popular draw for foreign players with as many as 44 involved this year.

The final two rounds were played at St. George's yesterday and wraps up today.

SOFTBALL SOF The following players have been selected to train as part of the Bermuda Amateur Softball Association's women's national team in preparation for Women's World Softball Championships to take place in Newfoundland, Canada, July 29-August 7.

TARGET SHOOTING SHO For the second consecutive week Carl Reid emerged as the top gun after the Coral Reefs Rifle and Pistol Club's weekly `shoot-out' at the Prospect Range.

Reid fired a top score of 192 out of 200 to barely hold off the challenge of Frederick Paynter, who registered 191. Third was Danny Griffin with 190.

The current shoot lasts until March 16 and will have each players' scores combined at the end to determine an overall club champion.

Also, the Bermuda Target Shooting Association will be taking a team of small-bore and full-bore shooters to Fort Benning, Georgia, in April to compete at the NRA-VIT World Cup.

CRICKET CRI Somerset Cricket Club will host training sessions in preparation for the upcoming season every Sunday at 9 a.m. All interested parties are asked to attend.

TENNIS TEN The Jimmy Loutt Men's Doubles Round Robin Member/Guest will be played on Sunday at the Coral Beach and Tennis Club commencing at 10 a.m.
