The Etchells contest, which has two races left to sail, looks like being a battle between the Bermudian trio of Tim Patton, Chuck Millican and Billy McNiven, and the overseas challenge of Americans Nina Nielsen and Jeffrey Stall.

Millican, who won Wednesday's race, would appear to hold a slight advantage if he can discard his opening race 12th place at series end. His other results read second, third, first.

Results submitted to The Royal Gazette on Wednesday indicated that Chuck Millican had failed to finish the race and that Hugh McGugan of Canada had won it. The reverse, in fact, was true, leaving Millican right in the thick of things at the head of the fleet, breathing down the neck of leader Tim Patton.

The Snipe Class promises to be the closest of the other classes yet to be decided, with Malcolm Smith and Stevie Dickinson the main local challengers.

The J24 and the Sunfish Classes appear to be all over bar the shouting, with Peter Eastman of the US and Donny Martinborough of the Bahamas the would-be winners.

George Hughes will have to hold off the challenge of fellow Canadians Allan Chandler and Brian McDonah in the Luders Class, while Peter Bromby will be bidding to add the `B' Series and overall IOD title to his `A' Series success.

1992's other Race Week champions Alan Burland and Chris Nash have been interested observers since the Tornado Class finished on Tuesday.
