A year on, local insurance company BF&M has officially been recognised as an Investor in People.
The company said it formally started working towards the internationally recognised Investor in People (IP) standard in October 2001as a model for staff development and to improve communication.
The IP programme reportedly encourages companies to set up training targeted at improving both employee and employer.
BF&M said: "Our success depends on getting the best from everyone. It takes care of your most precious resource - people - which, in turn, is good for business."
After the company successfully achieved the standard, president and CEO Glenn Titterton said: "One thing that we will have to bear in mind is that this is an ongoing process and that we can be assessed again at any time.
"Even if it weren't for this, we would still want to keep raising the bar and to ensure that our human resources practices are 'best practice'...," he said.
