Dodwell sets new age group record

11-year-old record to highlight the second day of competition at the Winter National Age Group Swimming Championships over the weekend.
The eight-year-old member of the Sharks club raced to a time of 49.31 seconds in the 50-metre butterfly on Saturday, bettering the old mark of 49.86 set by Caroline Greetham in June, 1985.
Dodwell also won the 8-and-under freestyle and was second in the breaststroke.
Another notable swim was turned in by Jimmy Pereira of Harbour Club, who won the boys 13-14 year-old 1,500 metres in a blistering 18:58.27. The time was more than 40 seconds faster than second placed Nuri Latham of Dolphins.
The final day of the meet is at BASA pool on Novemeber 16 when the sprint events will be held.
