Breaking News: Man jailed five years for gun, drugs possession

A man was jailed for five years and three months for gun and drugs possession at Supreme Court today, after getting caught in a Police sting last year.

Michael Eversley, 29, of Pembroke, must also complete a year of probation after his sentence.

He was caught with a loaded Tallon T 200 nine millimetre pistol and 9.6 grams of cannabis in his car.

The charges came last June after Police stopped a car that was being driven by Eversley, with another man, Marcus Bean, 29, in the passenger seat.

Police had received a tip that the two men were due to hand over the gun at Curving Avenue in Pembroke, and were waiting for them.

Bean, of St. George’s, has already been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for possessing an additional 3.33 grams of marijuana that he admitted was his.
