A great show – let's hope it's not another 10 years before Bebe and Cece return

This is Gospel: Bebe and Cece put on a great show at the Heritage Worship Centre. It was their first show in Bermuda for 10 years.

Now I must admit, I am very biased.

I have loved this duo from the time I was old enough to sing. My mother blasted their CDs in our stereo system on an almost daily basis and to this day, I still adore the music.

So needless to say, I was definitely looking forward to the concert.

After the original concert was postponed by a weak Hurricane Danielle, hundreds of worshippers packed the Heritage Worship Centre eager to watching the siblings perform.

The event was due to start at 7.30 p.m. and by 8 p.m. when it hadn't started, the crowd became a bit restless until American Idol contestant George Huff came up on stage with the Inspirational Choir.

After a lively rendition of 'Oh Happy Day', the choir got down to business and performed two songs much to the delight of the crowd.

Bermudian artist Tricray Astwood followed with two original songs. Talent oozed from him as his performance was very spiritual and moving.

New Orleans female gospel Trinity 5:7 followed with a very uninspiring, almost annoying performance.

Between the screaming and the lack of coordination, they were forgettable.

Now I understand that this type of Gospel works well for some people but I don't need or appreciate an artist who gets onstage and screams the entire time to the point where I don't understand what is being said.

I digress.

The stars of the show gave people their money's worth.

Between the constant jokes spewing from Bebe's mouth to Cece's humble spirit and beautiful smile, I was left wanting more.

It was as if the duo had never parted ways.

Their voices sounded exactly the same as on the records and their chemistry on stage was perfect.

This was a show to see.

Songs included my absolute favourite 'Addictive Love' along with 'Lost Without You', 'Celebrate', 'For Always', 'Close to You', 'Grace' and so many more.

But it wasn't just the songs that made the concert. It was the interaction with the crowd and the spontaneous worship that made it.

Positive vibes filled the building as the audience sang along and raised their hands in praise.

It was such a beautiful sight to see.

Bebe and Cece promised it wouldn't take them 10 years to come back to the Island.

Hopefully they stick to that promise and another concert happens next year.

My only complaint was that another great song, 'I'll Take You There', wasn't sung.

Maybe next time.
