Antwon Carlos Kent admitted in Magistrates' Court on Monday to three charges of taking cash and clothes while working as a salesperson at 27th Century Boutique from March to May.

Sgt. Rex Osborne, prosecuting, told the court the owners of the store noticed a shortage in cash over those months. After watching Kent pocket money after making a sale they called the Police.

Kent, of Happy Valley Road was arrested and his home was searched. The 27-year-old told Police that he used the stolen cash to buy clothes.

In a separate incident, Kent pleaded guilty to stealing $495 worth of clothing and shoes. Sgt. Osborne said on May 13 Kent gave the items to a friend who left the shop without paying.

Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge adjourned the case for three weeks pending a social inquiry report.

A Bob's Valley Lane resident was woken at midnight on Sunday to find a man in his room. The prowler quickly escaped, snatching a pair of trousers.

A West Side Road house was entered early Sunday morning and a handbag containing $20, credit cards and personal papers was stolen.

Elsewhere on the island, $150 was carried away from a home on Spice Hill Road in Warwick.

But a resident on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish was able to chase a prowler from the premises before anything was stolen. And on Saturday morning, a thief was caught on Harrington Sound Road shortly after taking a Benotto pedal-bike from a nearby home. An off-duty Policeman made the arrest.

SPILL CLEANED UP TFC A tiny oil spill in Middle Road made getting to work a slippery business for some yesterday morning.

A small quantity of oil on Middle Road near the Riddells Bay Gas Station caused one reported accident, said Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning yesterday.

When Police arrived, they put down sand on the patch, said P.c. Venning. A Department of Works crew later cleaned up the spill.
