All change for Zeiko Lewis and Charleston Battery

Zeiko Lewis

Zeiko Lewis and his Charleston Battery team-mates will compete in a revised format during the upcoming 2021 USL Championship season.

The league announced this week that the teams will be divided into four divisions and will play 32 matches spread across 27 weeks during the regular season.

The league’s Board of Governors has approved for the regular season to commence between April 24 and May 15 and conclude at the end of October. The play-offs will then begin in November.

Further details concerning scheduling, divisional alignment and play-off structure will be announced in due course as the league keeps close tabs on the Covid-19 crisis in case further changes have to be made.

Charleston have retained the services of Bermuda forward Lewis who has accepted the terms of a new deal.

The 25-year-old was his team’s joint leading scorer with six goals in 15 appearances, and also had two assists.

It is the second straight season that Lewis has led his team’s scoring, with his tally falling just two shy of his haul from the previous campaign.

He also earned USL Player of the Week honours and was named as Charleston’s Offensive Player of the Year by the supporters for a second time.
