Young Bermudians trained as “future leaders” of local tourism have celebrated their graduation from the Bermuda Hospitality Institute (BHI) Skills, Tasks and Results (START) programme.Successfully completing the course guarantees each of the 16 students full-time summer employment at one of the Island’s hotels and restaurants.Their hospitality training at Bermuda College was given by college instructor Shawn DeShields, and Berkeley Institute director of staff development Joann Adams.Tourism Minister Patrice Minors said the BHI aimed to give young people with a passion for hospitality the chance to work with “first-class educators who have a depth of knowledge in the industry”.The Minister added: “We are thrilled at the success of these individuals, who we believe are the future leaders of our tourism industry.”
