Leaders Paget leave it late

First Division leaders Paget were rescued by Curtis Azhar's late goal in this hard fought clash at St. John's field yesterday.

Just when it looked as though the young Boulevard team might snatch a point, Azhar, who played with Dandy Town last year, came through to clinch it with an 89th minute strike from close range.

Paget won a free kick just outside the penalty box and the kick was deflected to the unmarked Azhar who steered it home.

Boulevard had the better of the earlier exchanges and took a 2-0 lead on goals by Michael Parsons after two minutes and 23 minutes.

But Paget refused to lie down and pulled one back after 30 minutes through the league's top goa scorer, Dennis Russell, to make it 2-1 at the half.

Paget pulled level after 52 minutes when Omar Shakir netted, leaving Azhar to come through with his late heroics.

Prospect 4 Social Club 3 Norrell Hull scored a hat-trick to lead last-placed Prospect to this stunning victory over Social Club at Police Field, the winning goal coming from Hull five minutes from the end.

Social Club lost one of their best players, Tokia Russell, after just one minute -- sent off by referee Lyndon Raynor after a serious foul -- but they fought back gamely and challenged until the very end.

Raymond Burgess put Social Club ahead direct from a corner kick after 16 minutes but Phillip Bailey headed Prospect level after 19 minutes and Hull gave them a 2-1 lead after 25 minutes.

Prospect went ahead 3-1 after 50 minutes when Hull took advantage of a dropped ball by the goalkeeper but Social Club fought back and got their second after 52 minutes when Leonard Raynor headed home a spectacular diving effort.

They drew level after 67 minutes when Eric Dunkley scored from a header and could have gone ahead after 83 minutes but Dunkley blew his chance, hitting a retaken penalty against the bar.

It was Dunkley who created the opening for Hull to snatch the winner just when a draw seemed inevitable.

Ham Parish 3 St. David's 1 A marvellous hat-trick by Irving Burgess saw Hamilton Parish move from fifth to third in the standings with this two-goal victory over St. David's at Lord's.

The speedy striker's finishing was deadly as he put his team ahead early on after receiving a well-timed chip from Corey Hill and then added a second after 44 minutes from a pass by Joe Lathan.

St. David's got their goal after 46 minutes through Angelo Cannonier and could have drawn level after 69 minutes had Kameron Fox not directed his poorly struck penalty at goalkeeper Alvin Baker. Burgess knocked the fire out of the home side with his third goal after 69 minutes.

I.Rangers 1 St.George's 3 St. George's kept within striking distance of the leaders by moving from third into second with this two-goal triumph at Malabar yesterday.

Rangers took an early lead through Jonathan Bean after 17 minutes but the east enders fought back and established a two-goal lead by the half on goals by Greg Foggo after 24 minutes and Kyle Williams after 29 minutes. Substitute Kenneth Butterfield put the game out of Rangers' reach with St. George's third goal after 74 minutes.
