What is your job? I am the founder and lead consultant for Fireminds Ltd. (incorporated in 2001) a technology consulting company based in Bermuda serving clients locally, in Europe and North America. The company specialises in software and web development, e-commerce, disaster recovery, VMware and computer security consulting, all of which are my areas of expertise. Fireminds also owns stakes in other technology companies.

What is your favourite part of the job? Building my own company and working for myself. I have always worked for other technology start-up companies, but it is so much easier to get up in the morning and know you are building something for yourself. Also I immensely enjoy solving tough technology problems for customers; the process of deciphering the problem is very rewarding.

What is the least favourite part of the job? Administration. I don't enjoy all the overheads required to run a company just as much as I don't enjoy chasing customers to pay their bills.

What is your most interesting experience at work? Solution building. I really enjoy listening to what the customer needs and usually the solution pops into my head. The most interesting experience at work is when the solution is something that has never been seen before, then I become excited and usually spend the next 12 hours obsessing about how I want to solve the customers problem.

What would you be doing otherwise? Travel and volunteering. Most people who know me, know that I'm trying build a successful company and want get to the point that I have more time to travel and volunteer around the world. This summer Polina and I spent a few months backpacking through Europe and we want to keep expanding our horizons, meanwhile trying to help other people.
