Just a few questions
August 19, 2004
Dear Sir,
I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with the answers to a few questions I have.
1. Why is it that when a white person uses the ?N? word it is racial yet black use it all the time to each other, especially in their song lyrics?
2. Why is it that the present day whites should apologise for the wrong doings of their ancestors when these events happened hundreds of years ago and not all white people had ancestors that did this?
3. Why is it that some blacks whose ancestors were the ones who sold other blacks to the whites don?t have to apologise?
4. Why do the blacks see nothing wrong with what other blacks are doing to their own kind in places like Rwanda etc.? I suppose that?s the white man?s fault too?
5. Why is it that the blacks are the first ones to complain about our prisons being overcrowded with black men yet it is their own mothers and family that rally behind them in cased like the Wellington Oval situation? White man?s fault?
6. Lastly, why was so much fuss made about the men killing the giant blue marlin and none was made this past weekend when a fisherman killed a baby 150 pound blue marlin for his son to win the Flybridge Tackle Junior Tournament? Shame on you for teaching your son that it was OK! Shame on Flybridge Tackle for allowing it to be weighed in ? let alone win!
Dasappointing crosswords
August 26, 2004
Dear Sir,
Just want to say how disappointed I and some of my friends have been for a while now, with the daily puzzles in . Doing the crossword puzzle daily has been a long-standing habit with lots of people, and it?s just something we look forward to doing first thing in the morning.
To lots of people this is no big deal, but to me, it?s kind of disappointing that the puzzles nowadays, especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays, are just too way-out for words, clues totally incomprehensible ? to us, anyway. It?s good to have challenging ones, but the recent stuff has been just silly, sometimes. Maybe you need to go to another source for your puzzles, say. Any improvement would be appreciated by,
Satisfy their curiosity
August 23, 2004
Dear Sir,
Reading menus these days is proving to be most entertaining. Not only do chefs have to know how to cook but they must be up all night trying to write menus that leave us the readers extremely intrigues. Last Friday you printed the Reefs new menu and I am more curious to know what ?Mille Feuille of Heirloom Tomatoes? is, which is one of their appetisers. The dictionary definition of ?heirloom? is ?a thing that has been in the family for generations?. I hope that one of the chefs from the Reefs is reading this ? if so please satisfy my curiosity! Also what are Gremolata Potatoes?
