Regiment are set to be announced.

Ex-Bermuda Regiment Commanding Officer Col. Michael Darling -- who currently holds both positions -- is to stand easy after more than 20 years as chief of the Board.

And his place in the ranks of the Board will be taken by another ex-Regiment CO, Watlington Waterworks chief executive Lt. Col. Allan Rance, while the Honorary Colonel of the Regiment's role will be filled by Lt. Col. Eugene Raynor, also a former commander of Bermuda's part-time army.

The new appointments are expected to be announced in the official gazette within the next few days.

Neither Col. Darling, who ran the Regiment in early part of the 1970s, or Lt.

Col. Raynor could be contacted for comment last night.

But Lt. Col. Rance, Regiment CO from 1990-94 and a current member of the Defence Board, said: "I have a very big pair of shoes to fill. Col. Darling has done a very good job for a very long time.

"We are seeing the baton being passed from one former Commanding Officer to another and I think we will see continuity rather than change.'' The Defence Board acts as an advisory council on military matters to the Governor -- the Commander-in-Chief -- and Government.

Lt. Col. Rance said: "It's not a matter of the Board introducing change -- changes, if changes come, are generated by the Regiment itself.''
