Premier coaching for club keepers
Fulham goalkeeping coach Vic Bettinelli will be sharing his Premier League expertise with goalkeepers on the Island during two coaching clinics at PHC.
Organised by Bermuda Football Association (BFA), the coaching sessions are for domestic club 'keepers of all ages and both sexes.
Technical director Derek Broadley has urged club coaches to join the goalkeepers at the two sessions, which take place on Friday June 20 and Saturday June 21.
Former Gillingham reserve and Fulham academy coach Bettinelli has spent the last two weeks working with the national team as part of a remit to provide Broadley with an overview of the standard of goalkeeping on the Island.
"Vic has not just been working with the senior national team, but the Under 20s and Under 17s," said Broadley. "We feel it's important he puts on a goalkeeping clinic before he departs.
"We would like to invite all club 'keepers with a coach to attend the sessions.
"Vic will be looking at two different themes; basic hand techniques on Friday and distribution techniques on Saturday.
"We will be putting information on the BFA website and we would like to invite all club goalkeepers on the Island who are interested. Some of our national team players will also be there to assist."
Broadley said he believed the art of goalkeeping had been neglected on the Island and reiterated his desire to develop Bermuda's young talent.
"While Vic is here we want to make the most of his expertise. At the minute a lot of focus has been on our national team, which is great. But I also want to put a lot of my energy in developing the younger players."
Initially, Broadley and Bettinelli had planned to remain on the Island during Bermuda's match against Trinidad to set up coaching courses.
But the pair will now be joining coach Kenny Thompson, assistant Richard Todd and technical advisor Gary Darrell in Port of Spain.
