Tiger misses Bermuda PGA Grand Slam slot
Bermuda has again missed out on Tiger Woods playing in the PGA Grand Slam held on the Island in October, with South Korean golfer Y.E. Yang snapping up the final spot.
Yesterday, Yang won the PGA Championship after going head to head with Woods. It is the first major PGA victory for an Asian-born player.
Premier Ewart Brown, who is a fan of Woods, said: "Today's developments remind us just how difficult it is for the world's best players to get into this tournament.
"Y.E. Yang has certainly earned his spot having beaten Tiger Woods, the world's number one player, in a face-to-face final round matchup.
"It was exciting golf and we look for much of the same here in Bermuda in October."
Yang is set to play in Bermuda alongside Open Champion Stewart Cink, U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover and Masters Champion Angel Cabrera at Port Royal Golf Course on October 19 to October 21. Cabrera won the Bermuda Glam Slam pink jacket in 2007 when the tournament was hosted at the Mid Ocean Club.
