Wells linked with Championship clubs

Nahki Wells: Attracting the attention of three Championship sides.

Hot property Nahki Wells is attracting interest from a host of clubs, including Wolves, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, according to reports yesterday. The 22-year-old striker further enhanced his burgeoning reputation after scoring in Bradford’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in Tuesday’s Capital One semi-final first-leg win.Wells has bagged 16 goals already this season but it’s his stand-out performances against Premier League sides Arsenal and Villa that put several suitors on red alert.New Wolves manager Dean Saunder has admitted that signing a striker is his top priority and is a known admirer of the former Dandy Town man.Saunders, who replaced Stale Solbakken at Molineux last week, was working as a Sky Sports pundit for Bradford’s match against Villa and described Wells as “one of the best strikers outside the Championship”.It’s understood Wells’ goalscoring exploits at Valley Parade have also not gone unnoticed by near neighbours Huddersfield Town and Leeds United. The Bermuda international has been a revelation for the Bantams since arriving at Valley Parade on a free transfer from Carlisle in the summer of 2011.His agent, David Threlfall, said he was not surprised his client’s eye-catching displays had put him on the radar of other teams, but insisted Wells was fully focused on helping Bradford."There is always going to be interest in someone like Nahki and he has been in great form this season," Threlfall told Skysports.com."Nahki is enjoying his football at the minute and he is just concentrating on doing his best for Bradford and helping them to success this season."Wells, who signed a new three-year contract at the start of the season, scored 12 goals in his debut campaign with Bradford, including a hat-trick at Northampton Town. The Bantams visit Villa for the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg on Tuesday, January 22.
