Greashena to launch Plush salon

Bermudian entrepreneur Greashena Spence will be officially launching her new business Plush Beauty & Barber Salon with a grand opening on Sunday.

Ms Spence took over the enterprise from her previous employer at Prestige Beauty Salon and she has also taken on most of the former client base.

"Plush" as the name indicates is intended to bring the "Front Street" salon experience to her clients. Furnishings and interior design provide an upscale feel that is accentuated with the airbrush artistry of fellow Bermudian Dean Richards. In addition to providing styling and barber services with staff members Akilia Darrell (stylist) and nail technician, Latasha Zuill, Ms Spence is also renting space to other young entrepreneurs in the same business — a barber, another nail technician and a clothes and natural products retailer.

At 27, Ms. Spence is believed to be one of the youngest salon owners in Bermuda. She has been working in the hair styling business since she was 12 years old. A graduate of CedarBridge Academy and Bermuda College, she also holds international certification from City and Guilds as a qualified hair stylist.

A community block party will be the signature event for the grand opening at the salon in Union Street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Entertainment, food and a hair and nail show featuring styles from the new salon, as well as children's activities, are scheduled for the event. Plush will also feature a live call-in show to radio station Power 95 every Saturday afternoon providing healthy hair and beauty tips to listeners. The salon is open seven days a week between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
