Peter Hughes, 28, of North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, was driving a Honda bike on Par-La-Ville Road, Hamilton, when he was stopped by Police on the evening of April 27.

Asked if he had been drinking, he admitted he had had about four or five drinks.

He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where a breath test showed he was one and a half times over the legal alcohol limit for driving.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis banned Hughes from driving for a year and fined him $450.

And Perry Simmons, 37, of Nu-Castle Lane, Smith's Parish, received the same penalty after he pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence.

Police stopped Simmons after he failed to stop at a red light while travelling along North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish on the evening of April 16.

He also agreed to give a breath test and was found to have 177 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood -- more than twice the legal limit to drive.
