Elder abuse forums this week

Elder abuse will be the topic of discussion in three town hall meetings held this week.The series of meetings are sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Social Rehabilitation, the National Office for Seniors and the Physically Challenged to discuss the Elder Abuse Register Act 2008.Meetings will be both to inform the public as well as giving attendees a chance to ask questions about the act that was passed by both the House of Assembly and Senate this year.

Meetings will be both to inform the public as well as giving attendees a chance to ask questions about the act that was passed by both the House of Assembly and Senate this year.

The first will be held tonight from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at the Penno's Wharf Cruise Ship Terminal, St. George's and the second will be tomorrow from 12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anglican Cathedral Hall, Hamilton.

Finally on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. a meeting will be held at Sandys Middle School. For both evening events hot refreshments will be served from 6.30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Copies of the Elder Abuse Register Act 2008 will be available at the door, but if you would like a copy in advance it can be collected from the National Office for Seniors and Physically Challenged at 60 Victoria Street, Hamilton or call: 292-7802.
