The man was spotted stealing cigarettes from Hamilton Pharmacy on Parliament Street at about 6 p.m., Police reported. He fled, but was overtaken by the store security guard on Church Street.

The man "pushed the security guard in the face,'' and ran away, leaving the cigarettes behind.

The thief was described by Police as having light brown skin and in his mid-40s. He wore a red windbreaker and dark pants. Anyone with information is asked to telephone P.c. Robin Hollinsid at 295-0011.
