Senior magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said he accepted the bank's evidence that Madeiros was in debt and found legal papers had been properly signed.

The amount owed totalled $9,613, the court was told.

Madeiros, 64, is serving three years in jail after being convicted of cheating landowner Mr. Boyd Davis of more than half a million dollars while managing his finances.

Acting Det. Superintendent Victor Richmond wants to talk to a white man in his early 30s who might have seen three people in an altercation, someone with a machete, or a man lying injured on the ground.

The man was wearing a khaki shirt and shorts and was riding a blue mountain bike.

Police located a black couple in a car after an earlier appeal for help.

The incident occurred on the section of the trail between George's Bay Road and Overplus Lane.

ROBBERY -- MAN ARRESTED CRM A Pembroke man has been arrested in connection with the Court Street robbery last week in which two men posing as Police officers allegedly wrestled a cruise ship visitor into an alley and robbed him of $400.

Police said they were still looking for the man's accomplice.

The incident reportedly occurred around noon last Thursday.

Police said the arrested man was 30-years-old.

WOMAN ASSAULTED CRM A 31-year-old Southampton woman was held against her will overnight and assaulted, Police said yesterday. She suffered minor injuries.

The woman accepted a lift from two men at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, believing they would drive her home from Hamilton.

Instead, they took her to a derelict building in St. George's.

"The woman was physically abused and was obviously extremely distressed due to the trauma she endured through the whole incident,'' Police said.

"She was held by them until Wednesday morning, when she was driven back to Hamilton and dropped off.'' GOLD THEFT CRM Gold chains were stolen from a display drawer at Vera P. Card, York Street, St. George's, at about 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The thief was described as wearing a blue knapsack, jeans and a peak cap.

He was between 5 feet 10 inches and 6-feet tall, and light brown skinned.

GAS GRILL TAKEN CRM A heavy gas grill was stolen from Hawkins Island, Police said yesterday. The commercial-size portable Vulcan Gas Grill disappeared from the outdoor brick barbecue range either on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

"This grill is very heavy and we believe it would have taken at least two people to move it,'' Police said.

Anyone who saw anthing suspicious on Hawkins Island is asked to call P.c.

BOAT RAIDED CRM Light-fingered intruders escaped with 12 flares from a 23ft Sea Bird boat, Kareda , moored at Flatts Inlet.
