Full slate of activities planned for Police Week

Police week will kick off on Saturday, October 6.Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the event, which has the theme “Building Partnerships for a Safer Community” this year.It will celebrate 133 years of service to Bermuda.The programme of events is as follows:n Saturday, October 6: Gymkhana at Police Field, Prospect, Devonshire, from 10am — 4pm Sunday, October 7. Inter Faith Service at CedarBridge Academy Cafeteria from 10am — 11am.n Monday, October 8: Awards Ceremony at CedarBridge Academy’s Ruth Seaton James Auditorium, starting at 5pm.n Tuesday, October 9: Police displays and seniors’ tea at Police Field and Prospect Police Recreation Club respectively, starting at 12pm.n Wednesday, October 10: Student winners of the Commissioner for a Day artwork and essay competition get a unique police experience at Police Headquarters from 9am to 2pm.The public is invited to attend open houses at Hamilton, Somerset and Southside police stations. At 7.30pm ‘Beat the Retreat’ will take place along Front Street in the City of Hamilton.n Thursday, October 11: Sports day at Police Field starting at 9am.n Friday October 12: A tribute to those who lost their lives while serving the Bermuda Police Service will take place at 4pm in the Military Cemetery off Alexandra Road Devonshire followed by a BBQ at the Prospect Police Recreation Club for ex, former and retired officers.n Saturday, October 13: The Police Ball at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess’ Gazebo Room.
