Artists will be bringing the heat for Father’s Day concert

Reggae artist Capleton

A Father’s Day event will be bringing two popular Jamaican reggae and dance hall artists together for an “electrifying” night of entertainment.

Reggae artist Capleton is known for bringing enthusiasm and excitement to the stage, while dance hall artist Cecile will represent for the ladies with a range of sultry songs.

“We decided to bring Capleton down because he is a very well respected and well regarded artist,” said organiser and member of Devonshire Recreation Club, Mustapha Rasheed.

“Capleton is known as one of the top reggae artists and Cecile is another one who is at the top of her game when it comes to female artists.

“They don’t come cheap, but we didn’t want to do something mediocre, we wanted to go top shelf so that’s why we are hosting this event with two quality artists.”

Money raised at the event will go towards painting, renovations and things needed to improve Devonshire Recreation Club.

Although the event will be held on Father’s Day this Sunday, Mr Rasheed said they wanted all reggae lovers to come out.

He said: “We are calling this the Father’s Day Explosion because we have two entertainers who will be bringing the heat, along with local performers like Jessie, Style Krazy and K Gabrielle.

“Father’s Day is usually a quiet and reserved day and there isn’t normally much happening, but we see this as an opportunity for them to come out with their wives or girlfriends and listen to these powerful entertainers we are bringing to the island.

“There are also a lot of women who take on the role of fathers, so it’s really for everyone to come out and enjoy the show.”

The event will be held at Devonshire Rec, but in the event of rain it will move to BAA Gymnasium.

Tickets, $55, will be available at Choices Retail, Jamaican Grill and Fish N Ting Restaurants. Gates open on Sunday at 8pm.
