A combined total of four insurance companies and brokers became registered in Bermuda during February, according to the latest statistics from the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).

The BMA's Monthly Registration Statistics revealed that three Class 3 re/insurers were set up last month, including Morgan Stanley Reinsurance Ltd., formed by Apple by Management (Bermuda) Ltd. on February 17, and Emerald Re Ltd. and Jersey Re Ltd., both by JLT Insurance Management, on February 24 and 26 respectively, bringing the total number of re/insurance firms to five for the year.

Price Forbes & Partners (Bermuda) Ltd., a sole-managed broker, was established on February 23 — the second intermediary to be incorporated on the Island during 2010.
