Goals galore as Hood tighten grip on top spot
and B Division leaders Robin Hood and Devonshire All-Stars among the big winners.
All-Stars hit 10 past an eight-man Bermuda Pest Control team without reply as Jeff Richardson scored four times and Armel Thomas three. Single scorers were Quincy Jones, Leslie Mills and Germano Bothelho.
All-Stars stayed two points ahead of Tuff Dogs who were also convincing winners, blasting Wolves Pack 8-1. Joe Carolo scored four goals for the second straight weekend to lead the Tuff Dogs scoring while Nelson Almeida and substitute Chris Sousa both scored twice.
The margin of victory was probably helped by the sending off of Wolves goalkeeper Mark Tankard in the 27th minute for a second bookable offence. The score was 1-0 at the time. Gary Peniston scored Wolves' lone goal from the penalty spot.
The other B Division match produced seven goals with Valley edging by eight-man Devonshire Lions 4-3. Kevin Isaac, Earl Pringle, Gevin Small and Eddie Smith scored for Valley while Germaine Burt netted two of the Lions goals in the first half and Ernest McCallan got the other early in the second.
Robin Hood maintained their grip on the top spot in the A Division with an 8-0 win over Exiles who could only field nine men. Simon Turner netted a hat-trick with goals in the 43rd, 51st and 66th minutes while Derek Thomas and Alex McLaughlin both netted twice and Donny Smith the other.
Second-placed BAA Wanderers needed a lone goal to beat Fire Service, through Thomas Gribbon in the 59th minute. Danon McGowan of Fire Service was sent off in the 79th minute for unsporting behaviour.
Eamon Brady scored twice as Lobster Pot beat Prison Officers 7-2. Peter Jinks, Mark Twite, Ben Franz, Alan Turner and Adrian White scored the other goals.
Erskine Swan and Millard Rawlins replied for Officers.
In the other matches MR Onions beat PHC Raiders 2-1 and North Village Rams got by Vasco Mariners 2-0.
The first spots in the Friendship and Shield final will be decided tonight at Somerset when two semi-finals are held. The 7.00 Shield opener is between two promotion chasing teams, Social Club and Devonshire Cougars, while the feature match sees North Village playing holders Devonshire Colts in the 9.00 contest.
