closely-fought battle in prospect in the A Division between Port Royal's leading line-ups.

Just half a point separates Port Royal I, who head the table, and Port Royal II, with performances at Mid Ocean on Saturday set to decide which team will take the title.

Last week saw Port Royal I's Max Atherden lead the field home with a 75 on his home course.

The monthly medal competition will also take place at Mid Ocean on Saturday, in conjunction with the Amstel League.

The annual challenge match betwen the top 10 A Division players and a PGA team is scheduled to take place on August 8.

The battle for honours in the B Division sees Ocean View II with a one-and-a-half-point lead at the head of the table, having overhauled BJGA, whose young stars have been competing overseas.

Last week, Judithanne Outerbridge, who will be representing Bermuda in the World Amateur Golf Council Team Championships in Vancouver in September, shot a fine 65, while Chris Garland, Adrian Arnold and Noel (Red) Smith all carded 69s. An exciting final round is in prospect at Ocean View on Saturday.

Meanwhile, time is running out for players wanting to enter the BGA's Annual Heritage Tournament at St. George's.

Players wishing to enter should call BGA secretary Tom Smith on 238-1367 and inform him of their handicap. The entry fee of $35 can be payed on the day. It includes green fee, golf cart and a Bermuda-style brunch.

The event is on July 25, but entries must be in by this weekend.
