Local trio invited to train with Revolution
National team players Domico Coddington, Tyrell Burgess and Keishen Bean have been invited to train with New England Revolution this week.
The trio all saw action during the visiting Revs? 3-0 victory over Bermuda last Saturday night at the National Sports Centre (NSC).
?Steve (New England coach Steve Nicol) has agreed to allow them to train with New England on Thursday and Friday,? confirmed assistant national coach Paul Scope yesterday.
?It is not a trial but a great opportunity for the lads to train with a top pro team and see what being a pro is all about and I am very appreciative of Steve for allowing this.?
Bean and Coddington, who underwent trials with United States League side Atlanta Silverbacks last month, and Bean both came on as substitutes last Saturday while Burgess, who started, was unlucky not to convert on two occasions.
Coddington, who was also involved in trials in Italy at Serie C club AS Acireale and has played professionally in the Canadian Professional League with Oakville Blue Devils, scored against the Revs during their first visit to Bermuda in 2005.
The three youngsters have now received an opportunity to follow in the shoes of fellow Bermudian Khano Smith who was signed by New England after last year?s tour. Smith is currently recovering from surgery to his right knee.
Meanwhile, it is understood that North Village?s Bean and Burgess along with promising Devonshire Colts playerr Shane Dietz have been offered football scholarships at Lynn University in Florida.
?Lynn University has an excellent football programme and is also strong on academics,? added Scope, who played an integral part in securing the scholarships. ?This is the next best thing to having our players overseas with professional teams as can be seen when the likes of Nigel Burgess, Taurean Manders and Alexander Logan come back to play.?
