Bacardi International Ltd. has applied for permission to build a second floor on its existing offices on Pitts Bay Road.

However it is unlikely the move will mean more jobs as the extra space will be used to accommodate existing staff.

James Amos, Bacardi's vice president of human resources, said: "The purpose is to provide us with more office space because we have a growing number of employees.

"Our office on Pitts Bay Road is the global headquarters for Bacardi Ltd. and we have to satisfy the situation of growing numbers as well as plan for the future.'' The application has only just been submitted to the planning department and it will have to be considered by the Development Applications Board.
