Underground Railroad, will headline a Gospel Concert this evening.

Tiki Mercury-Clarke, from Toronto, arrived on the Island last Saturday to share stories about African's experiences with slavery and how some of them escaped via the Underground Railroad.

The Underground Railroad was a secret route used by slaves to escape from southern plantations to freedom in Canada.

Worldwide Church of God elder John Stovell said that Ms Mercury-Clarke's visit to Bermuda was arranged to mark Black History Month.

Mr. Stovell said Ms Mercury-Clarke's performances, which includes singing and piano playing, tell the story of Black slaves.

"She tells the story of the black man coming out of Africa, coming to a new world and how he escaped via the Underground Railroad,'' he explained.

During her week-long visit, Ms Mercury-Clarke visited Warwick Secondary School, Whitney Institute and St. George's Secondary School.

And she will be performing at a Gospel Concert, held under the distinguished patronage of the Chief Justice Austin and Mrs. Ward, tonight at St. Paul's Church.

"There will be two halves to the show,'' Mr. Stovell said. "The first half will be comprised of local talent and the second half will feature Tiki.''
