Heritage exhibition at Ace

As its contribution to Heritage Month, the Ace Group is sponsoring a special exhibition entitled 'Bermuda Long Ago', curated from works in the company's own art collection.

Viewers can expect to enjoy a selection of paintings, photographs, maps, and etchings featuring the charms and tranquility of a bygone era.

Beginning with Captain John Smith's 1624 map, with its earliest known views of Bermuda, the exhibition also includes beautiful Impressionist works from Bermuda's 'golden years of painting' by such artists as Prosper Senat and Clark Voorhees from the late 19th and early 20th centuries; a selection of Donald Kirkpatrick's sensitive etchings; prints by Edmund Hallewell, circa 1848; a rare Ella Churchman painting; Hanna Rion's 'Church Bay' from 1922; and many photographs featuring scenes of Hamilton and everyday life from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The exhibition is located in the Ace Gallery at Ace Global Headquarters at 17 Woodbourne Avenue, and will continue through May 31. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Groups are welcome, but should call ahead for an appointment – 295-5200.
