Chan proves to be a real beauty!
And for the winner of the recent Little Miss Paradise pageant that dream became a reality.
Eight-year-old Chan DelValle won the title after she outshined ten other competitors during the pageant held at City Hall last week.
The pageant, for girls aged seven to 12, was the finale of a one-week camp held at the St. George's Community Centre.
The camp taught the young girls various aspects of etiquette, dance, modelling and Bermudian heritage.
At the end of the week, all of the girls entered the pageant which consisted of a talent show, modelling display, and a question-and-answer session.
Chan chose to sing "One in a Million'' by R&B sensation Aaliyah for the talent show. And the little beauty queen continued to strut her stuff throughout the bathing suit and formal dress categories.
The contestants also performed a dance for the judges which they had previously rehearsed at camp.
"The dancing was my favourite, my best part,'' Chan admitted.
As Little Miss Paradise she won a trophy, an engraved plaque, a tiara, a $150 travel voucher, a pocket-sized camera, and a bouquet of flowers.
She will be giving special appearances for a year at such events as the Christmas and Bermuda Day parades.
"I had a lot of fun,'' Chan said about the contest. "Now I really want to be a model when I grow up.''
