White banned after newspaper interview

Somerset Cricket Club captain Wendell White has been slapped with a three-match suspension for his involvement in a post America's Cup interview with this newspaper.

Reliable sources close to Bermuda Cricket Board of Control disclosed yesterday that White had been banned for three games from all domestic cricket.

But Board president Reginald Pearman continued to set the tone from the top by opting not to comment any further on the matter until after the Cup Match all-rounder has had his say at an appeals hearing in front of the BCBC's special disciplinary committee, headed by second-vice -president Gary Fray.

That appeal will take place next Monday at the Board's Cedar Avenue offices.

Should White fail in his bid to have his name cleared, then the Somerset stalwart will not be eligible to take his place in Somerset's team until mid-May.

The player has declined to comment until after Monday's hearing.

Earlier this month Janeiro Tucker and Clay Smith received a stern warning from the BCBC's disciplinary committee for their part in interviews with TheRoyal Gazette.
