All go for our athletes
WHILE Bermuda's two swimmers, Kiera Aitken and Roy Allen Burch, have already completed their Olympic races in Beijing, the remaining four athletes from the island go into action starting today.
Show jumper Jill Terceira who carried Bermuda's flag at the Opening Ceremony last Friday night, will compete on her South African-born stallion Chaka III in the ring at the Hong Kong Jockey Club in the qualifying for the show jumping finals.
She told the Mid-Ocean News yesterday: "Chaka III passed his vet inspection this morning (Thursday) and I will start my first competition tomorrow evening (this morning Bermuda time)."
After Terceira and Chaka jump today, the next athlete up for Bermuda will be Tyrone Smith, who will compete in the qualification for the long jump finals. He jumps tomorrow at the Bird's Nest at 9 a.m. Bermuda time. Smith has his eye set on making the final which will be on Monday morning Bermuda time.
Also on Monday Flora Duffy will compete in the triathlon and will try to reverse her long line of setbacks she has had this year in various races.
On Tuesday Arantxa King is in the spotlight when she competes in the preliminary of the long jump in the Bird's Nest.
