A visitor, staying at the hotel, placed her jewellery in a plastic bag and concealed it under some clothes in the dresser. But thieves discovered the bag and escaped with a gold watch and jewellery worth $300.

Police are also investigating the theft of a Panasonic television and a Phillips video recorder from Saltus Junior School.
