END TO END PRACTICE WALK TODAY ENV FNR End to End practice walk today A practice walk for one of the year's largest charity events takes place today.

Organisers of the End-To-End Charity Pledge Walk, which takes up on May 2, said the walk will start in St. George's at 10 a.m.

The six-mile hike will follow a circular route starting from Ordnance Island and going through Ferry Reach Park.

Future practice walks include: A ten-mile walk path from the Bermuda College campus through Paget and Devonshire at 10 a.m. on March 29; Dockyard to Hamilton on April 18 at 7.30 a.m. (Special ferry leaves Hamilton at 6.45 a.m.); and An eight-mile walk from Albouy's Point at 10 a.m. on April 26.

Registration forms for the End to End will be available after March 19 at the Sportseller, Sports Locker, all Phoenix Stores and from all branches of the Bank of Bermuda.

Funds from both the middle-to-end (15 miles) walk and the full 26-mile walk will benefit the Bermuda Health Foundation, Open Airways, Parent Resource Institute for Drug Education (PRIDE), the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and a Conference on Deaf Awareness in Bermuda.

MARSH BOARWALK APPROVED PLN ENV Marsh boardwalk approved The National Trust and the Bermuda Audobon Society have won approval for a boardwalk through Paget Marsh Nature Reserve.

The two environmental groups said the boardwalk -- modelled from a technique used in the Florida Everglades -- will help to preserve valuable plants and bird sanctuaries.

Paget Marsh is unique in that it is the last significant tract of land to have survived almost unchanged since pre-historic times.

The Development Applications Board also approved a parking area and a pond for the marsh in addition to the 315-foot boardwalk.
