Court ordered to undergo a social inquiry report.

Clinton Randolph Hayward, 33, of Middle Road, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Antoinette Hayward on May 4.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told Senior Magistrate, the Wor. Will Francis that Police responded to a call about a woman being beaten in the street across from Warwick Academy.

"The defendant set upon Mrs. Hayward, struck her, dragged her inside a house by the neck, and escaped through the rear of the house,'' Insp. Duffy said.

"He said he was upset because she had come home in another guy's car.'' An examination at the Hospital revealed Mrs. Hayward had facial swelling and a fractured nose.

Duty Counsel Mr. Justin Williams told the court that Hayward was apologetic, and circumstances had caused him to become irate and out of control.

"An assault of this nature usually carries a mandatory penalty of six months in jail,'' Mr. Francis said, "but I want to hear all of the facts.'' Mr. Francis set bail of $500, ordered the report, and set the matter for mention on May 30.
