Butterfield shares surge 3.6% in New York

No stocks traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index remained unchanged on 2,496.64.
The BSX Insurance Index climbed 48.55 points, or 2.86 per cent, to close on 1,747.26.
Butterfield Bank’s US-listed shares gained $1.35, or 3.65 per cent, to close on $38.35 on the New York Stock Exchange, as 142,306 shares changed hands.
For the week the BSX Index gained 3.22 per cent. The increase was driven by a 4.3 per cent gain in the stock of the index’s largest component, Butterfield, which closed the week on $36.50.
