The Insect's Best Christmas Under 13-Honourable Mention

Julia Burns Moroney, Under 13

Once upon a time there lived some ants in Bermuda. It was Christmas and the ants were hoping for nice Christmas presents, and that nobody would spray their house. For one of their presents they were hoping to get a new stocking because their stocking was old.

One of the ants, named Ellie, asked Santa to help them by stopping people from spraying their family house.

She wanted to stay in the same house because they decorated the house the best they could this year and because it was their home.

Every Christmas she had to move to another house when people sprayed her family's house and she didn't like it because they did it every Christmas.

There were friendly lizards that were friends with the ants. The lizards liked to have tons of play dates together and every Christmas they came over to Ellie's house to play games like checkers, and they ate walnuts together.

The lizards hoped for some pretty Christmas decorations and they also hoped they would get a big dollhouse so they could crawl around in it and play.

There were also very nice bees that were friends with the ants and lizards. The bees would fly to Ellie's house to play with the ants and lizards.

This Christmas they were hoping to get lolly pops from Santa.

There were also playful cockroaches and they also were friends with the ants, lizards and bees. They went to Ellie's house to play at Christmas.

The cockroaches wanted a pretty car so that they didn't have to walk around so much.

The gentle butterflies were also friends with the ants, lizards, bees and cockroaches. Every Christmas the butterflies would go to Ellie's house with everyone else to celebrate Christmas. They asked Santa to make their wings more colourful because their wings were only orange and red and they wanted more colours.

There was a family that was about to spray the ant's house. The children came out of the house and they told their parents not to spray because it would pollute the environment and also the ants will not have a nice Christmas.

The parents thanked their children and they never sprayed again.

All the insects said, "Yeah, it's Christmas Eve!" Every Christmas Eve the insects went to the beach and this year they found something very strange. They saw Santa at the beach. Santa was swimming in his bathing suit.

The insects rushed over to Santa and said, "You should be handing out presents!"

Santa got out of the water and loaded his sleigh again with fancy shells that he found on the beach. When Santa was just about to fly away in his sleigh (to visit their house while they were away and didn't know), he said: "I'll come back after Christmas and take you all for a sleigh ride to the North Pole because you were very helpful. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!"

It took the insects a whole night to get back home from the beach. When they got to the ant's house, they found that they got everything they wanted.

The family went out and found some Christmas treats because the children left it for the ants because they knew that the ants lived there.

The ants wrote a letter to Santa to say that it was their best Christmas ever.
