Currently the building houses the Mayfair beauty salon and the Buckaroo but the plan is to turn the complex into offices.

Plans approved by the DAB include turning the building into offices on the ground, first, second and third floors.

Mr. Cauchi said he was not sure what would happen because he has not heard anything definite about plans for the site.

The renovations are planned to start around February and take one year.

The building owned by a trust, the beneficiaries of which are David L. White, editor of The Royal Gazette and his daughter Lesley Ann White.

Architect Stanley Kennedy has said the DAB approval was in principle only and more work had to be done on the plans.
