Christopher, 33, of Scotts Hill Road, Sandys, admitted three offences of breaking and entering with intent to steal.

Magistrates' Court heard he broke into Crockwell's Restaurant on January 4.

He also entered Cut & Curl Salon and Sandys Hardware on December 30.

Mr. Francis sentenced him to 12 months prison on each charge, to run concurrently.

Christopher was given an additional three-month sentence, also to run concurrently, for escaping lawful custody on January 7. He had admitted the charge.

Prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said nothing was stolen from any of the properties Christopher had broken into.

Unemployed Christopher had entered the properties through windows.

Added Sgt. Osborne: "The defendant was subsequently arrested and taken into custody on January 6.'' Sgt. Osborne said Christopher was taken from his cell at 6.15 p.m on January 7.

He was left alone to smoke a cigarette in an enclosed yard, Sgt Osborne continued.

"A search was made and he was found nearby one and a half hours later.'' Sgt. Osborne said Christopher had escaped by climbing a tower and getting onto the roof of the cells.

"He jumped off the roof to make good his escape.'' Christopher, who has a history of dishonesty, told Mr. Francis of the break-ins: "I am sorry. It will never happen again.''
