Orion Llewellyn Thomas, 33, of Frog Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to supplying cannabis to an undercover Drug Enforcement Agency officer on April 18.

Thomas was arrested at his residence on June 11 and remanded in custody at the Westgate Correctional Facility.

Crown counsel Leighton Rochester yesterday told Magistrate Arthur Hodgson that Thomas approached the officer at 6.42 p.m. on Middle Road, Warwick and sold him 1.17 grams of cannabis for $50.

Mr. Rochester also mentioned that Thomas had five criminal convictions between 1986 and 1993, two of which were drug-related.

Lawyer Philip Perinchief asked the court to consider that "Thomas has managed to steer clear of (drug) matters for the past four years''.

He added: "Mr. Thomas has spent his time working as a security guard and as a houseman at the Palm Reef Hotel. He has not been in trouble with the law for some four years.'' Mr. Hodgson sentenced Thomas to one year in prison with the time he has already spent in custody to be taken into account.
