BAA 4 Ireland Rangers 1BAA Wanderers thrashed Ireland Rangers in the Shield preliminary round at Devonshire Rec. last night.Rangers took the lead after an Nigel Tucker own goal on 30 minutes but BAA levelled when Regeno Gomes put the ball into his own net on 48 minutes.After the break BAA took control with striker Ryan Tyrell finding the net after 55 minutes and Laquan Thomas adding another on 74 minutes.Jonas Burlow scored BAA’s fourth goal late on moments before Rangers were reduced to ten men when Smith was dismissed for two bookable offences.Somerset Eagles 2 Young Men’s Social Club 0Goals either side of half-time from Darin Dowling and Quennel Robinson gave Somerset Eagles victory over YMSC in the Shield at Devonshire Rec last night.Striker Dowling headed home from a corner on the 28th minute to break the deadlock.YMSC missed a chance to draw level when Robert Rawlins saw his 39th minute penalty saved by Eagles goalkeeper Karl Brown.After the break Somerset started the stronger of the two teams but YMSC came closest to scoring when Shervin Jennings forced a fine save from Brown midway through the half.On 88 minutes Robinson put the game beyond doubt when he headed into an empty net after Shentoine Lambert had fired against the crossbar.Eagles coach Marlon Rojas said: “ I was pleased with our performance. I think we have been getting better as the season has gone on.“It seems like the players are starting to get a grip with some of the things we have been coaching them over the past two years.“Obviously we would like to stay within touching distance of the top four teams in the (First Division), but it would be nice to have a good cup run.”Eagles will now meet X-Roads in the Shield quarter-finals on Sunday at either Goose Gosling Field or Bernard Park, while Hamilton Parish will play Prospect at Wellington Oval.
