in Europe will be attracting visitors to Bermuda.

Mr. Andre Brenner, leaves the Island after three years at the Somerset resort.

He has started a new London-based company called Connect AB Ltd., with plans to open offices in Frankfurt and Zurich.

Connect will use contacts with tour operators to provide European representation to hotels and resorts, he said.

Mr. Brenner said he would represent Cambridge Beaches in Europe, with the exception of Italy.

And as sales agent for Imperial Airlines -- which hopes to begin charter service to Bermuda this summer -- he would deal with many other properties on the Island, he said.

Holding both German and Swiss nationality, part of Mr. Brenner's job at Cambridge Beaches was developing the European market.

In the last three years, he said the percentage of the hotel's client base that came from Europe was pushed above 20 percent, putting it at or near the top in that category.

Mr. Brenner said the Department of Tourism was doing a good job in Europe and the market there had great potential.

The average European who visited Bermuda spent more per day and stayed longer than North American visitors, he said. His company would try to attract the most sophisticated travellers, he said.

"I very much believe that all the cultural facilities, such as the Maritime Museum and the Bermuda Zoological Society, they go with the concept of what the European traveller wants.'' Beaches and palms could be found all over the Caribbean, but Bermuda's culture, safety, and friendliness were unique, he said.
